The Bible Society of Malawi (BSM) has called upon churches, Christian organizations, families, and individual believers across the country to actively participate in the observance of Bible Month 2026, which is being celebrated throughout October under the theme:
“Celebrating God’s Love and Faithfulness” drawn from Psalm 115:1:“Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.”
Bible Month is an annual national observance that encourages Christians to deepen their engagement with Scripture and reflect on the transforming power of God’s Word in their personal lives, families, churches, and communities. Churches are encouraged to dedicate services and activities throughout October to reading, studying, teaching, and celebrating God’s Word
The Church Leads, BSM Serves
The Bible Society of Malawi has emphasized that Bible Month is fundamentally a Church-led celebration.
While BSM coordinates the national observance, mobilizes resources, and provides Scripture engagement opportunities, the Society views itself as a servant ministry supporting the Church’s mission of making disciples and nurturing believers through God’s Word.
Speaking on the significance of the month, BSM Chief Executive Officer, Mphatso Bello, said:
“Bible Month reminds us that God’s Word remains the foundation of our faith, the source of our hope, and the guide for godly living. As we celebrate God’s love and faithfulness throughout October, I encourage every church, family, and believer to intentionally engage with Scripture. The Bible Society of Malawi serves as the servant arm of the Church. Our role is to ignite, coordinate, and support Bible-centred initiatives, while the Church takes the lead in proclaiming, teaching, and living out God’s Word in every community across Malawi.”
He further noted that Bible Month provides an opportunity for Christians to move beyond merely owning Bibles and instead cultivate a lifestyle of reading, studying, meditating upon, and obeying God’s Word.

A Month of Scripture Engagement
Throughout October, churches are encouraged to organize a variety of Bible-centred activities, including Bible reading marathons, Audio Bible listening sessions, Bible studies, Scripture recitals, prayer gatherings, Jesus Film screenings, and sermons focused on God’s love and faithfulness. These activities are designed to help believers deepen their understanding of Scripture and apply God’s Word in their daily lives
In addition, BSM is implementing an Urban Scripture Challenge aimed at promoting wider Scripture engagement through Audio Bibles and Bible Apps in selected churches across Malawi’s cities. The initiative seeks to encourage believers to interact with God’s Word using both traditional and digital formats.
Special Bible Month Discounts
As part of the celebrations, the Bible Society of Malawi is offering special Bible Month discounts on selected Bibles and Scripture resources through its Bible shops and distribution channels. The initiative is intended to make God’s Word more affordable and accessible to individuals, churches, and families during the month-long celebration.
BSM is encouraging churches and believers to take advantage of the promotion to purchase Bibles for personal use, family devotions, evangelism, discipleship programmes, and church ministries. The Society believes that removing barriers to Scripture access remains an important step towards ensuring that every Malawian can engage meaningfully with the Word of God.

Serving the Church Through the Bible
As a servant arm of the Church, the Bible Society of Malawi remains committed to supporting churches through Bible translation, publishing, distribution, and Scripture engagement ministries. Through these programmes, the Society works alongside churches to ensure that God’s Word reaches every generation, community, and language group in Malawi.
As believers gather throughout October to celebrate Bible Month, BSM is encouraging the Church in Malawi to use this special season as a time of thanksgiving, renewed commitment to God’s Word, and deeper discipleship.
“Bible Month is not an event for the Bible Society alone. It is a celebration for the whole Church. We invite every congregation, every family, and every believer to join us in celebrating God’s love and faithfulness through His Word throughout this month,” said Mphatso Bello.
The Society has therefore called upon Christians across Malawi to ensure that the celebration of Scripture extends beyond a single event and becomes a continuing commitment to reading, studying, sharing, and living out God’s Word in everyday life
