BIBLE MONTH CELEBRATIONS FOR 2024 – “GOD’S WORD, MAKES THE IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE”
Greetings from the Bible Society of Malawi in the name of Jesus Christ who is our Lord and Saviour.
As Christians, we consider ourselves privileged to have the Bible, which is God’s Living Word. And this Word needs to be celebrated because it is relevant and central to every season of our life.
We are glad to report that this year, we have designated the entire month of October to celebrate the Bible. This has been done to deliberately give churches and Christians alike a lot of time to reflect on the Word of God and further to come up with their preferred dates they can observe as Bible Sabbath and Bible Sunday. The theme for this year’s Bible month celebrations is God’s Word, Makes the Impossible possible. (Luke 1:37).
The Bible month is a time for us as Christians to celebrate and honour God’s inspired Word, which has been handed to us and is always in our midst. Since this is a celebration for all Christians, we would like to urge all churches to reflect on ways in which you can celebrate God’s word in your congregation or you can choose to join hands with other churches to make this event worthwhile. During this
month, we urge you to set aside a particular week coined Bible Week whereby you will specifically celebrate the Bible.
Below is a sample of the activities that can be carried out during that week including Bible marches (but you are free to generate your own design of celebration):
- Sunday – Bible Sunday (Sermons on Bible month theme – Special collections to support Bible work)
- Monday – Bible reading marathon (Read one full book of the Bible)
- Tuesday – Bible recitals and Bible Quiz
- Wednesday – Bible Study on the theme
- Thursday – Intercession for the country
- Friday – Jesus Film or Listening to the Audio Bible
- Sabbath – Bible Sabbath (Sermons on Bible month theme – Special collections to support Bible work)
Please remember to share with us how you have celebrated the Bible month in your church or community so that others can learn from you.
