The fairways of Blantyre Sports Club came alive on Saturday, 17 May 2025, as the Bible Society of Malawi (BSM) hosted a Charity Golf Tournament — a day filled with friendly competition, generosity, and shared commitment to a worthy cause: the Malawi Sign Language Bible Project.
This initiative seeks to bring the Word of God to the deaf community in Malawi, many of whom have never experienced the Bible in a language that fully speaks to their hearts.
Fellowship with a Purpose
Golfers from the corporate world and beyond gathered on the 9-hole course not only to play but to give. Between swings and smiles, players also visited the Bible product stands — purchasing Bibles priced above their retail value, with some going for K60,000 and K50,000 (normally K42,000 and K35,000).
An exciting auction added energy to the event when Amaryllis Hotel donated a Bed & Breakfast voucher, which was successfully sold for K400,000.
What is more inspiring? Even after the tournament ended, many golfers asked Bible Society to keep the books open. They committed to continue spreading the word and rallying donations from more companies and individuals in their networks.
A Joyful Celebration
During the prize ceremony, winning golfers received a variety of awards, but the greatest reward was shared by all: being part of a mission that is changing lives through God’s Word.
BSM Board Director Rabson Mgawi extended heartfelt thanks to all supporters: “This tournament was more than sport. It was a declaration that the Bible is for everyone — including those who communicate through sign language.”
BSM CEO Mphatso Bello echoed this with a call to action: “We welcome more partners to walk with us. Together, we can ensure no one is left behind in accessing the Scriptures.”
