Incoming Executive Director Announcement

The Chairman, Board of Directors, Management and staff of Bible Society of Malawi are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Mphatso Wiseman Bello as the Executive Director with effect from the 1st of January 2023. Mr Mphatso W. Bello will be succeeding Mr Clapperton Mayuni who retires by end of December 2022.

Qualifications and experience

Mr. Bello served the Bible Society of Malawi for a period of 17 years as Director of Finance and Administration.A Chartered Accountant by trade, Mr Bello holds a Bachelors degree in Accountancy from the then Polytechnic, University of Malawi. He also completed a United Bible Societies Leadership Training Programme from 2016 to 2017 in Brazil.

In his brief stint outside the Bible Society, Mr Bello served within various NGOs. Notably;

  • Accountant at Save the Children USA – Malawi office
  • Assistant Accountant at Multi-Country Training Centre of Posts & Telecommunications Corporation.

He also sits on the Board of ADRA Malawi in his own right.

With his deep love for the Lord and passion for God’s Word, Mr Bello has expressed his commitment to continue the success story of the Bible Society of Malawi by focusing on the Bible audience, strengthening Church relations and increasing the Bible Society’s mission sustainability.

Mr Bello’s predecessor. Mr Mavuni. has served the Bible Societv of Malawi for 36 vears. 17 of those as the Executive Director. Mr Mayuni retires and hands over the button stick after championing the self-sustainability of the Bible Society as evidenced by the completion of building an office complex in Lilongwe – the Jireh Bible House.

As Mr. Bello takes over the Executive Director post, we at the Bible Society of Malawi covet your prayers so he leads the ministry into greater avenues of service and opportunities in these challenging times. May God’s blessings, protection and care be with us all.
