The Bible Society of Malawi (BSM) was honored to welcome Deaconess Young Rye Kim, a key donor from the Korean Bible Society, alongside a three-member delegation, for a heartfelt three-day visit across central Malawi.

The visit strengthened the long-standing partnership between the two Bible Societies and brought the gift of Scripture to hundreds.

Faith in Action Across Malawi

At age 71, Deaconess Kim continues to serve passionately in global Bible ministry. Following a deeply personal calling after the loss of her husband, she began donating Bibles to countries in need—Malawi being among nine nations she has supported through the Korean Bible Society.

“After my husband died, I had a vision from God to help the less privileged own a Bible,” she shared during the trip. “Malawi is the only country I have personally visited after making a donation—and I feel at home here.”

This visit allowed her to see firsthand the joy and gratitude of recipients.

Bible Distribution

While in Malawi, the delegation distributed Bibles to churches and high school (form one) students at Youth Care Ministries Secondary School. The atmosphere was filled with singing, thanksgiving, and an eagerness to engage with God’s Word. Both visits were marked by heartfelt responses, with many recipients expressing deep joy at owning a Bible for the first time.

“To God be the glory! I didn’t know I could ever own a Bible,” said one emotional beneficiary. “Praise God!”

The visit concluded with renewed commitment and deeper unity between the Bible societies.
